Custom Discord Embeds - Customize How Your Links Look
Custom Discord Embeds
Make your image links stand out. With ImgLink embed profiles, you control exactly how your images appear when someone shares them on Discord, Twitter, Slack, or any platform that reads OpenGraph tags.
What Are Embed Profiles?
When you paste an ImgLink image link into Discord, it shows a preview card - the embed. By default, it shows the filename as a title with no description. With embed profiles, you can customize:
- Title - Replace the filename with your own text
- Description - Add a message or context below the title
- Accent Color - The colored bar on the left side of Discord embeds
- Author Name - Show your name or brand above the title
- Author URL - Make the author name clickable
- Site Name - The small text above the title (default: "ImgLink")
- Image Size - Choose between a large image preview or a small thumbnail
Creating an Embed Profile
From the Website (Recommended)
1. Log in to your ImgLink account
2. Go to your Dashboard
3. Click the Embeds tab (look for the sparkle icon)
4. Click New Profile
5. Fill in the fields you want to customize
6. Watch the live Discord Preview update as you type
7. Click Create Profile
You can create up to 25 embed profiles.
From Discord (Quick Setup)
Use the /embed set command to create and assign an embed in one step:
/embed set image_id:abc123 title:My Cool Screenshot color:#ff5733 author:Username
Options:
- image_id - The image ID from your ImgLink URL (required)
- title - Custom embed title
- description - Text below the title
- color - Hex color code for the accent bar (e.g. #ff5733)
- author - Author name shown in the embed
- site_name - Small text above the title
Assigning Profiles to Images
From the Dashboard
1. Go to the Images tab in your dashboard
2. Click on images to select them (checkboxes appear)
3. In the selection toolbar, click Assign Embed
4. Choose a profile from the list
5. Done - all selected images now use that embed
You can assign the same profile to hundreds of images for consistent branding.
From Discord
/embed set image_id:abc123 title:My Title color:#3b82f6
This creates a new profile and assigns it to that image instantly.
Removing a Custom Embed
Dashboard: Select images → Assign Embed → choose "Remove Embed" at the top of the list.
Discord:
/embed remove image_id:abc123
The image will go back to using the default ImgLink embed.
Previewing Your Embed
Dashboard Preview
When editing a profile, a live Discord embed preview appears on the right side. It updates in real time as you change fields - so you can see exactly how your link will look before saving.
Discord Preview
Use the /embed preview command to see how an image's embed currently looks:
/embed preview image_id:abc123
The bot will show you the full embed card with all your custom settings.
How It Works (Technical)
When you set a custom embed, ImgLink serves custom OpenGraph meta tags for that image:
- og:title - Your custom title
- og:description - Your custom description
- og:site_name - Your site name
- theme-color - Your accent color (Discord uses this for the colored bar)
- og:image - An optimized thumbnail of your image (loads fast on all platforms)
Discord, Twitter, Slack, Telegram, and any app that reads OG tags will pick up your customizations automatically.
Tips
- Discord color bar is controlled by the accent color - pick something that matches your brand or mood
- Only filled fields show up - leave a field empty and it won't appear in the embed at all
- Large image mode shows the full image in the embed; turn it off for a small thumbnail on the right
- Reuse profiles - create one "branded" profile and assign it to all your uploads for consistency
- Author URL can link to your social profile, website, or personal page
Example Use Cases
- Content creators - Brand every screenshot with your name and color
- Communities - Set a server-themed embed for shared images
- Artists - Add your name and portfolio URL as the author
- Meme pages - Custom titles and descriptions for maximum engagement
- Developers - Branded screenshots with project name as site name
FAQ
Q: Do custom embeds work on Twitter/X?

Q: Can I change an embed profile after assigning it?
A: Yes. Editing a profile updates it for all images that use it.
Q: Is there a limit to how many profiles I can create?
A: You can have up to 25 embed profiles per account.
Q: Does this cost anything?
A: No. Custom embeds are free for all registered users.
Q: What happens if I delete a profile?
A: Images that were using it revert to the default ImgLink embed. No images are deleted.
Q: Where do I find my image ID?
A: It's the code at the end of your image URL. For example, in imglink.cc/i/abc123, the ID is abc123.
